One of the many stories I have heard of the Port Townsend Paper Mill RUINING the Quality of Life of Port Townsend Citizens.

"" Jocelyn Hanbey - August 19 at 1:50pm

I have been devastated by the mill and it's effect on my life and my family for years. We bought a house here 7 years ago and at that time my friend convinced me that the mill was going to close but it never did. We have moved in and out of our home three times because the mill always sends us "running for the hills".

We have two children and pets and I love living in Port Townsend, but when that mill stench streams into our house taking our oxygen, like a thief in the night, I feel like I want to respond like there is a thief in my house! I am outraged and sick from this chemical they are putting out with no concern for the citizens. The amount of water they use during a drought and their location so close to the water and to neighborhoods is a environmental crisis happening right before our eyes.

We are "dumbed down" by the mill, that is we are not functioning with our full senses because the stench is foggy our brains. We as a community should be stepping forward with both feet to create a compromise with the mill (maybe they just run for eight hours a day, 5 days a week???). Or demanding our rights to clean air and demand legal reprecussions if the mill will not put filters on their stacks 24/7!"
