"GEORGETOWN, S.C. (AP) -- A group of South Carolina residents have filed a federal lawsuit against International Paper, claiming that pollution from a paper mill has damaged their health and their properties.

Multiple media outlets report Saturday that the group claims the Memphis, Tenn.-based company knew its paper mill in Georgetown was emitting hazardous materials but did nothing.

The lawsuit is proposed as a class-action that could include as plaintiffs anyone who lived within five miles of the facility for at least two years.

An International Paper spokeswoman declined to comment on the case but said the company would fight the allegations in court."
